China: A Skier’s Journey / Sept 2016 / Jordan Manley – Canada – 16 minutes
Skiing as sport is in it’s infancy in China, a phenomenon of the country’s exploding middle class. As a means of survival however, it is thousands of years old, a Stone Age hunter-gatherer technology born in the Altai Mountains where China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Siberia merge. On a vast trajectory that spans 11,000km of Northern China, Chad Sayers and Forrest Coots touch down into the rich past and dizzying future of these two respective Chinese ski cultures. As one rapidly expands, they find the other is at risk of disappearing. WATCH TRAILER
Eclipse / August 2015 / Anthony Bonello – Canada – 31 mins
From the beginning it was an absurd idea: Travel to Svalbard, high above the Arctic Circle in the middle of winter, to try and capture a photo of a skier in front of a total solar eclipse. A cast of Salomon skiers including Cody Townsend, Chris Rubens, and Brody Leven follow photographer, Reuben Krabbe, into the frozen wilds, battling weather, climate change, and their own ambitions in a quest for a shot at a once-in-a-lifetime photo. Nature Rx / Feb 2015 / Justin Bogardus – USA – 2 mins
A hilarious and poignant satire about a current day issue affecting all humans, revealed in the perfect post-modern capsule – a prescription drug commercial. A funny and timely spoof, offering the faceless masses a way out of their soul-crushing modern existence and into the life they want to be living – connected, happy, and free.
Crossing Home: A Skier’s Journey / October 2016 / Jordan Manley – Canada – 29 mins
Any weary traveler is faced with a road that ultimately winds to an end. They must return home. In the series finale, after excursions through ski cultures across the globe, Chad Sayers and Forrest Coots return to the beginning of their journey, British Columbia. Embarking on a 3 week expedition, they boat, bushwhack, ski, and packraft across the spine of the Coast Mountains. From interior plateau, they ascend the rippling rivers of ice over the Homathko Icefield, and reach the lush, carpeted coastal inlets of the Pacific coast. What is the meaning of home? A cast of characters help them understand what that term truly means. WATCH TRAILER
